Ben’s recipe to fend off a cold... Preparation time: 5 minutes Cooking time: 20-30 minutes Ingredients: 2 Carrots 1 Onion a piece of fresh ginger water salt & pepper parsley or cilantro if desired

Method Chop the carrots, onion, and ginger and cover with water.  Add a pinch of salt & pepper and cook until the carrots are soft.  Add contents to a blender and blend until smooth.  Drink the soup until your body feels warm and climb into bed and sweat out that cold!  You can also garnish with some cilantro to induce sweat and expel the cold.  Add the carrot tops if you also have a sore throat.  If your not feeling cold, achy, and congested, and are feeling warm with a headache and sore throat, use mint & cilantro instead of ginger. Medicinal Effects Carrot: is cool, sweet, and pungent.  It clears heat, detoxifies, strengthens all internal organs, and promotes digestion. Onion: is warm and pungent; it promotes sweating, resolves phlegm, and is a diuretic. Fresh Ginger: is warm and pungent; it promotes sweating, anti-toxin, antidote for seafood poisoning, benefits the lung & stomach, and expels pathogens. Cilantro: is slightly cool and pungent; it promotes sweating, strengthens digestion, and promotes Qi flow. Mint: is cool and pungent; it clears heat, expels pathogens, and regulates Qi.
