Mixing a Chinese Herbal Prescription
How do you take it?
Below are the three most common forms of Chinese herbal medicine. The powder & pills methods are the most popular here in the U.S.A.
Raw - this is the original and most potent method. Raw herbs are cooked in a pot of boiling water, strained, and then drunk as a tea.
Powder - this is a pharmaceutical-grade herbal powder extract that is dissolved in warm water and drunk as a tea. In our clinic, most of prescriptions are filled in this fashion by our own in-house pharmacy.
Pill - this is often the most economical but least potent as the pill formulae are pre-made and not tailored exactly for all your signs & symptoms. However, that being said, there are many conditions that respond very well to these patent medicines, especial chronic conditions. They are also great for prevention and support once major signs and symptoms have abated.
How much does it cost?
1 Week of Herbal Powder = $25 1 Week of Herbal Pills = $10 Herbal Consultation = $25 (FREE Consultation with the purchase of an acupuncture session.)
